leading the child to the heart of nature
Bio
Much of Megan Ray Durkin’s writing for children celebrates the natural world. As a teacher reading aloud to children for so many years (over thirty), she loves a nonfiction story that captures the wonder of a young audience. Having lived and taught in many places in both the United States and Asia, much of her writing reflects cultural geography themes as well as elements of land stewardship and animal care taking. These characteristics are typical of a Montessori educator’s view of the child. Besides striving to make the world a better and friendlier place, she hopes to bring her love of learning to her role as a teacher and author and to develop that lifelong passion in children.
